Chandrayaan-3 Moon Mission Progressing; Second Deboosting of Lander Set for Tomorrow
Lander module of India’s Chandrayaan-3 was successfully de-powered on Friday. Boosting reduced its orbit, bringing the mission a step closer to the moon.
The Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) third lunar probe is scheduled to make a soft landing at the Moon’s south pole on August 23.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission was successfully launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. The spacecraft arrived in lunar orbit on August 5.

– Vikram Lander’s 2nd Deboosting on August 20th
ISRO announced on X that the second deboost of the Vikram Lander is scheduled for August 20. The first deboost was successfully completed on Friday.
This second deboost brings the mission even closer to the soft landing at the Moon’s south pole, scheduled for August 23.

– Lander Module Deboosting succeeded; LM Health Normal
The deboost operation of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft’s Lander module was done on Friday at 4:00 p.m. This operation reduced its orbit to 113 km by 157 km.
ISRO announced on X that the condition of the LM is normal.

The Indian Space Research Organization shared a view from the Lander Image (LI) 1 camera on August 17, moments after the Lander module separated from the propulsion module.

The Indian Space Agency also shared images of the Moon captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) on August 15.

– Chandrayaan-3 Lander module is different from main module
ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission achieved another milestone when the Lander Module carrying the crew inside it successfully separated from its Propulsion Module on the 17th. August.
The LM, consisting of the Vikram lander and Pragyan, is ready to be launched into an orbit that will take the mission closer to the moon. Landing at the Moon’s south pole is planned for August 23 at 5:47 p.m.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully completed its fifth and final orbit on Wednesday, taking the mission one step closer to completion.
After this maneuver is completed, the spacecraft can prepare to separate the Lander Module from the Propulsion Module.
